Double injury blow mars Liverpool win over Manchester United.

Manchester United left Old Trafford with their heads held low.

Liverpool played their rivals off the park, smashing them 5-0.

However, this was a day that could have been a whole lot better for the Anfield fans.

Mo Salah scored a hat-trick alongside goals from Naby Keita and Diogo Jota.

The game was one that will live long in the memories of the travelling fans.

Unfortunately for Jurgen Klopp, though, his side suffered two more injuries.

In midfield, already a problem area, Keita and James Milner both suffered injuries.

Milner went down in the first half with a hamstring problem whilst Keita was side-lined by a debilitating Paul Pogba challenge.

This will only bring further problems for Klopp.

He went into the game already without Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott.

That now means that Liverpool have five absences in midfield.

By the end of the game, Klopp was down to the bare bones of his side’s midfield.

Jordan Henderson, Curtis Jones and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain were the midfield trio.

That will likely be the three used by Klopp when they welcome Brighton to Anfield next weekend.

In the week when they face Preston we could see the Reds experiment with some academy players.

However, the injured midfielders will need to return fast.

After the international break the games come thick and fast and Klopp will need to have players back for rotation.

That gives the current crop of injured midfielders just under a month to get themselves back to fitness.
